Ian Monks

Ian became a director of The Manydown Rural Estate in 2009. He is a chartered surveyor specialising in the management of rural estates. Ian was formerly head of rural at a national firm of property consultants.

Since 2016 he has worked as an independent advisor, trustee or director to a variety of estates from Devon to Scotland, ranging in size from 500 to 25,000 acres. He is also chairman of the Institutional Landowners Group of the CLA and a member of the DEFRA Tenancy Reform Forum.

Ian said: “A rural estate is different to any other property investment; it combines stewardship of natural assets, making the most of built assets often in a sensitive location, but importantly it involves people - those who live, work and play in the countryside. It is this combination that motivates me to make the right decisions now which will have a lasting impact in the future.”
